Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'A Discourse of the Common Weal of This Realm of England' is a seminal sixteenth-century treatise that offers a profound analysis of the social and economic challenges facing Tudor England. Written in the form of a dialogue between various representatives of society-including a knight, a merchant, a doctor, and a husbandman-the work explores the causes of inflation, the enclosure movement, and the general decay of the commonwealth. Attributed to 'W.S.' and often linked to intellectual figures such as Sir Thomas Smith, the text provides an invaluable firsthand perspective on the transition from medieval to early modern economic thought.Through its insightful examination of currency debasement and agricultural shifts, the book seeks to identify solutions for restoring stability and prosperity to the realm. This edition preserves the intellectual rigor of the original discourse while making its complex arguments accessible to readers interested in history, economics, and political science. It remains an essential primary source for understanding the pressures of Elizabethan society and the early development of mercantilist theory. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
