The Case for Episcopacy

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'The Case for Episcopacy' presents a thoughtful and rigorous defense of the historic role of bishops within the Christian Church. Written by Kenneth D. Mackenzie, this work examines the theological, scriptural, and historical justifications for episcopal governance, particularly within the context of the Anglican tradition. The book explores the concept of apostolic succession and the development of the three-fold ministry of bishops, priests, and deacons from the early church through to the modern era.Mackenzie's analysis is deeply rooted in the ecumenical dialogues of the early 20th century, addressing the challenges and arguments raised against the episcopal system. He argues that the office of the bishop serves as a vital symbol of unity and a necessary instrument for the preservation of faith and order. By situating the episcopate within the broader scope of church history, the author provides a clear articulation of why this form of leadership remains essential for the life and mission of the Church. 'The Case for Episcopacy' is an invaluable resource for students of theology, church history, and ecclesiastical structure, offering a clear perspective on one of the most significant aspects of Christian organizational identity. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
