Songs

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Songs' by Reginald C. Robbins is a sophisticated collection of vocal compositions that exemplifies the early 20th-century American art song tradition. Known for his intellectual approach to composition, Robbins provides a series of musical settings that prioritize the emotional and philosophical weight of the accompanying text. This work showcases the composer's signature style, characterized by complex melodic lines and a declamatory vocal style that challenges the performer while rewarding the listener with profound expressive depth. The collection serves as an important historical artifact of the New England school of music, reflecting a period where composers sought to blend classical European techniques with a distinctly American sensibility. The pieces featured in 'Songs' are designed for the concert stage, offering a rich interplay between voice and accompaniment. Scholars of American music history and vocalists specializing in rare 20th-century repertoire will find this volume to be a significant contribution to the study of art songs. By focusing on the marriage of serious poetry and innovative harmonic structures, Robbins' work remains a testament to the high-minded artistic ambitions of the post-Romantic era. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
