Fred is an abused and neglected elephant who grew up in a circus and then moved to live in a zoo. In Fred's Story 2, the reader follows him through a series of adjustments as he adapts to life in the zoo, where he experiences new problems in this new stage of his life, just as human trauma survivors do as they move through the life cycle. In the accompanying workbook there is a series of therapy assignments that link Fred's conflicts to problems common with all trauma survivors. The workbook in Fred's Story 2 builds on the exercises in the first volume in the series, entitled Fred's Story. Fred's Story is written in simple, moving language that is suitable for older children, teens, and adults. It is not a children's book - rather it is a powerful story of trauma and survival accompanied by a therapeutic workbook.
