This book is an autobiography, written primarily for the children and extended family of Kent Allen Farnsworth. I have tried in its writing to include anecdotes and personal insights that may make it of interest to others, but have no expectation that it will find an audience beyond those for whom it is written. My hope, in fact, is that it will have some interest to them. It is the story of a life that was generally satisfying, but far too driven. From my earliest memories I felt the need to do things well or not attempt them, and the result has been a life of constant striving to be better, of missed opportunities, and of never having the sense that I had done quite enough. In the trying, however, I saw a great deal of the world, achieved what many would consider significant success, and had experiences that led an assistant to once say, "You don't know what a normal life is like. You've never lived one." I hope that in that abnormal life I gained some wisdom about what to avoid, where to spend fruitful time, and what should be valued in a life - average or exceptional. To the best of my ability, I have left those thoughts in this biography.
