God tries or tests us to build our character or loyalty. He does not tempt us to do evil. It is Satan who tempts us to do evil and move away from God. How do we know when we are tested by God or tempted by Satan? Each of us needs to know the difference and how to face each difference. Even so, some people might say that life may be uninteresting were it not for temptations. Others may say that temptation is one of the key catalysts that show the value of the good life. Why? The pain and regret we feel when we are sucked into temptation teach us never to yield or give in to temptation. For our responses to temptations cause us joys or sorrows. We may be strengthened in our character as a possible outcome.
