Over Here draws upon events 100 years old, but the story is a current one describing crucial but little-known aspects of U.S. involvement in World War One. The book foreshadows the attack on 9/11 and weaves together many of today's controversies: the war on terror, concerns about immigration, and the horrendous cost of modern war.
