Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

George Edison Nicholau was born in Marysville, California in 1918 to Greek Immigrant parents. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1938 where he excelled in all sports, especially football. He earned a football scholarship to attend the University of California at Berkeley, where he played in the first college football game he ever saw. During his time at Cal he was also a founding member of the Epsilon Phi Sigma Fraternity. He graduated from Berkeley and U.C. San Francisco Medical Center with a degree in Pharmacy in 1943. Upon graduation, he served as Lieutenant Jg as the Executive Officer on a Minesweeper in the South Pacific during WWII. After the war, George Nicholau returned to Marysville, California, where he, against all odds, founded the Marysville Clinic Pharmacy in 1946, and later, SafeSave Pharmacy in Yuba City, CA in 1961. He was also one of the founding charter members of Peach Tree Golf and Country Club in 1961, and in 2011 he became an Honorary Premier Member. George Nicholau has served on the Alumni Council for the University of California Nine Campuses, and also served on the Big C Society. Mr. Nicholau was first elected to the Board of Trustees for Yuba Community College in 1979, and served for 20+ years, with two terms as President. He was the first trustee in the state of California to be appointed to serve on the Statewide Community College Accreditation Team. He was a volunteer assistant coach for the Marysville and Yuba City High School Championship football teams, and the Yuba Community College Championship football teams in the 1970's and 1980's. Mr. Nicholau was inducted into the Northern California Athletic Hall of Fame, as well as the Yuba Community College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013. George Nicholau was also chosen to serve as Vice President of the California Pharmaceutical Association, and served faithfully on the Sacramento Greek Orthodox Church Council. George Nicholau is currently 95 years old, and married to his wife, Gaye, for 65 years…and still counting. His 6 daughters are all graduates of his beloved UCBerkeley, with one exception, graduating from USC. He is a proud Grandfather of 6 and a Great Grandfather of 5. His most recent title, however, is Author. Some stories in his memoir will make you laugh, while others, steeped in insurmountable grief will make you cry. It is his sincerest wish that you find the story of his life inspiring and entertaining.
