Perry and his mother have agreed that Blotch, the birthmark on the side of his face shaped like Michigan, upper and lower peninsulas, can be removed. Even though his girlfriend Cam tells him Blotch is an ability, not a disability she is fully onboard with the plan. Unfortunately the first time Perry has an appointment to remove Blotch it is canceled by two feet of snow. A month later his appointment is again canceled because Perry has the flu, pneumonia, and bronchitis. And then his Mother says no, Blotch must stay. In one night Perry’s world comes crashing down around him. His parents won’t let him come home. Cam won’t talk to him. Not knowing where to turn he finds an unlocked car and spends the night in the back seat. He begins to believe his only hope is that the angels come back and that they come back in time.
