Mr. Doggy is a fine upstanding citizen. He is a product of the 60’s, and he epitomizes peace, love, understanding of his fellow man, and staunch patriotism. He serves as a role model for everyone, and when faced with a problem, one might say, “what would Mr. Doggy do?" This first adventure of Mr. Doggy deals with prejudice, racial profiling, distrust and the hesitation many people feel about accepting someone who’s different than themselves. Mr. Doggy encourages fellowship through casual gatherings, always with music and singing. Mr. Doggy was inspired by our beloved cat, “Wheezer” whom we affectionately referred to as “Mr. Doggy“. He appears in scene 2 where Mr. Doggy is saying goodbye to his friends.

J.D. and Meg began their partnership as musicians and have collaborated as songwriters and musical arrangers for years. Their band, “Cass Avenue” performed in the Detroit area and eventually in Northern Michigan. They immediately fell in love with the lush forests and scenic lakes and rivers in the area and decided to make the move northward. They began their northern venture as owners and operators of Shenanigan's Pub & Grub, a nightclub and restaurant in beautiful Houghton Lake, Michigan. “Mr. Doggy Moves to the Country” is their first collaboration on a children's picture book. Both J.D. and Meg hope to inspire humanitarian and environmentalist values in readers young and old who are exposed to their books.
