Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Dion Petaros is nationally recognized for his expertise in Emergency Response theory and practice. He is well known as a knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor in the Emergency Response community. Dion’s responder experience includes an all-hazard history, but his passion for Search & Rescue has led him to develop educational programs to prepare other responders for service in the SAR specialties. With more than 30 years of experience in Search & Rescue he is frequently called upon to present classes to novice and advanced practitioners. Dion now serves as AERIE’s SAR Branch Director where he coordinates the large group of professional researchers, authors, instructors and examiners. Wes Podboy - Author is a 32-year veteran reserve deputy for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. He helped found the Sheriff’s Department Basic Search and Rescue Academy and served as the Course Coordinator. Wes also serves on the County Incident Management Team. As one of the developers of the California Wilderness Medical Technician Trial Study. Wes received the California Medal for Meritorious Service. James Keck - Author is the Leader of the Search & Rescue Team for the Shawnee/Pottawatomie County Emergency Management SAR Team and has participated in many searches throughout Oklahoma. Previously he served with numerous teams responsible for SAR, and other types of emergency response. Jim has also served in the Civil Air Patrol and worked for 10 years as a Paramedic. Jim is respected for his years of educating SAR responders Gary Jenkins - Author is a 25 year veteran Certified Safety Professional. As an outdoors safety expert, Gary participates in avalanche prediction and crevasse rescue. His accomplishments include summiting Mount McKinley (Denali) in Alaska and all fifty-four “fourteeners” in Colorado. Combining his safety expertise with his love of all things outdoors, Gary now looks to educate those recreationalists seeking safe fun in adrenaline raising adventures. Julie Petaros – Author is a ten year veteran in SAR. Julie is certified as a Flanker, Search and Rescue Technician, Flanker Trainer, Search and Rescue Examiner, and a passionate SAR Instructor. She has extensive experience training emergency response professionals in field operations and preparing them for field examinations. A love of working “in the field” and a desire to assist citizens in need, drives Julie to continue to learn and teach different areas and levels of SAR.
