Notably, this volume acknowledges the common "co-occurring" disorders. Generally these often appear as post trauma where the client presents with a largely childhood history of "sexual abuse, physical abuse, early separation from the birth mother, inter-parental violence, profound childhood illness, and early death of a parent. With this in mind, it becomes clear that the therapeutic interventions called for are primarily acts of compassion, understanding and loving-kindness.
