The revolution has already begun. The fracking revolution, that is. The Fracking Truth is a primer on America's ongoing energy revolution, but it's also a call to action. The oil and gas industry has failed itself and failed the American public by doing a poor job of educating the public on fracking and related technologies that have created the American energy revolution. Readers will learn about the myths and the truths of the controversial practice of fracking, how the United States is benefitting from the fracking boom, and how fracking can actually help the US and the world achieve climate change goals. The Fracking Truth seeks to bridge the information gap between public perception and an industry that fuels our daily lives, our national economy, and our future. After years of economic devastation and turmoil, the energy boom driven by fracking gives us a second chance at security, prosperity, and global leadership. Let's hope we get it right.

Though Texas born and bred, Chris Faulkner was not a child of the oil and gas business. He was certainly not the most likely candidate to become the oil and gas industry's most vocal champion. Faulkner entered the oil and gas business by way of a 3D seismic imaging software program he designed. Since founding Breitling Energy Corporation in 2004, Faulkner has devoted himself to developing greener methods in his own company and advocating for a more environmentally friendly and transparent approach throughout the industry. A pragmatist and an optimist, Faulkner addresses oil and gas issues with a signature style, both frank and analytical, that has made him a trusted resource among the media and policymakers both at home and abroad. His work in the industry has brought him recognition in the form of industry awards including AERG's 2013 Oil Executive of the Year as well as a media moniker he embraces: "Frack Master."

Hardcover. Zustand: Very good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: very good. First Edition, presumed first printing. Inscribed by the author on fep. xii, [2], 164 pages. Figures. Tables. Illustrations. Index. Author of The Fracking Truth and producer Breaking Free, Chris Faulkner is the Founder and CEO of Dallas-based Breitling Energy Corporation (OTC: BECC), an oil and natural gas exploration and production company. Mr. Faulkner's diverse and extensive background in the oil and gas industry in North America, Europe and the Middle East covers all aspects of oil and gas operations, including project management, production, facilities, drilling and business development. Mr. Faulkner serves as an advisor to the ECF Asia Shale Committee and sits on the Board of Directors for the North Texas Commission. Hydraulic fracturing (also hydrofracturing, hydrofracking, fracking, or fraccing) is a well-stimulation technique in which rock is fractured by a pressurized liquid. The process involves the high-pressure injection of 'fracking fluid' (primarily water, containing sand or other proppants suspended with the aid of thickening agents) into a wellbore to create cracks in the deep-rock formations through which natural gas, petroleum, and brine will flow more freely. When the hydraulic pressure is removed from the well, small grains of hydraulic fracturing proppants (either sand oraluminium oxide) hold the fractures open. Hydraulic fracturing began as an experiment in 1947, and the first commercially successful application followed in 1950. As of 2012, 2.5 million "frac jobs" had been performed worldwide on oil and gas wells; over one million of those within the U.S. Such treatment is generally necessary to achieve adequate flow rates in shale gas, thight gas, tight oil, and coal seam gas wells. Some hydraulic fractures can form naturally in certain veins or dikes. Hydraulic fracturing is highly controversial in many countries. Its proponents advocate the economic benefits of more extensively accessible hydrocarbons. However, opponents argue that these are outweighed by the potential environmental impacts, which include risks of ground and surface water contamination, air andnoise polluttion, and the triggering of earthquakes, along with the consequential hazards to public health and the environment. Increases in seismic activity following hydraulic fracturing along dormant or previously unknown faults are sometimes caused by the deep-injection disposal of hydraulic fracturing flowback (a byproduct of hydraulically fractured wells), and produced formation brine (a byproduct of both fractured and nonfractured oil and gas wells). For these reasons, hydraulic fracturing is under international scrutiny, restricted in some countries, and banned altogether in others. Some countries have banned the practice or put mortoria in place, while others have adopted an approach involving tight regulation. The European Union is drafting regulations that would permit the controlled application of hydraulic fracturing. Artikel-Nr. 72190
