Liisa Cay is a native of Helsinki, Finland. She studied journalism in Switzerland and at the age of 23, already fluent in five languages, decided to learn Mandarin Chinese. She traveled to Taiwan and lived two years in Taipei with the widow of an army general who had been killed by Mao Tse Tung’s army. She also met the renowned scholar and poet Lin Yutang, who introduced her to the fascinating Chinese culture. After two years in Taiwan, Liisa settled in Spain, accepted a job offer as a tour director and, although specializing in the Far East, she traveled the world over for 20 years; She was in Kashmir when the Pakistani president Zia-ul-Haq was killed and war broke out, but managed to flee from the angry crowd, which had murdered her chauffeur, by lying flat on a bus floor with her tourist group. She stood at Tian An Men Square in Beijing, surrounded by half a million students, only days before the shocking photos spread all over the world, but she was able to fly her group to the safety of Hong Kong. During these adventurous years she wrote of her life and travel experiences in a diary, which she is preparing for publication. The divorce from a Spanish soccer star and the tragic loss of her first child awakened Liisa to search for spiritual values. She traveled to Calcutta and met Mother Teresa, who helped her find enlightenment in her life. Her interest in Oriental wisdom and art of living found its peak in India, when she met Professor Samdhong Rinpoche, former Prime Minister of Tibetan Exile Government. A beautiful friendship was born between the Tibetan monk and the Finnish tour leader, which lead to major life changes for her. She went on a pilgrimage to Tibet, returned to Finland, and married Jamie Heil, native of USA. Encouraged by her husband and daughter, she decided to fulfill her original dream to write a book, which she titled “Kun Lun”. Kun Lun has been translated to several languages and sold out in the countries it's been published. Liisa Cay is currently working on the second part of “The Kun Lun Trilogy”. and donates part of her book's royalties to animal rescue organizations.
