Born and raised (so far) in New York City, tenth grader David Pines loves to surf — restaurant guides, that is. But he never found a guide or website that captured all the best spots for kids. That’s when David decided to create his own guide to the ever-exciting and ever-changing New York restaurant scene. Along with various members of his family, David went on food hunts throughout the City to find the very best dishes for kids. The result was the First Edition of Pines Picks, A Kid’s Guide to the Best Things to Eat and Drink in New York City published when he was in the sixth grade, and the Second Edition published when he was in the eighth grade. David has been interviewed by newspapers, magazines and bloggers from across the US, Europe, and Australia. Since that time, David has continued to explore the dizzying array of offerings from the thousands of NYC eateries. He has also attempted to track the openings and closings of so many NYC spots. Sadly, some of the restaurants that closed were among his favorites. This Third Edition of Pines Picks reflects all of David’s latest findings. In addition to participating in food hunts, David burns thousands of calories a week playing competitive tennis. He is also an avid skier who can find the best lunch spots at any mountain resort.
