When Doug Alderson was perusing several old family scrapbooks, one worn leather-bound volume drew his interest-maps, photos, sketches, brochures and humorous commentary from his grandparents' 1939 "trip thru the Golden West." Highlights included Pike's Peak, the Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Sequoia, Yosemite and Yellowstone. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Doug Alderson's first book, Waters Less Traveled: Exploring Florida's Big Bend Coast, was runner-up for Best Travel Book of 2006 by the North American Travel Journalists Association. He has also authored The Vision Keepers, New Dawn for the Kissimmee River, and several others. His articles and photographs have been featured in magazines such as Native Peoples, Wildlife Conservation, American Forests, Sea Kayaker, Sierra, Mother Earth News and Shaman's Drum.
