From my early commitment to teach this to my daughter, I have taken what I have learned and have shared many of the simple, but powerful strategies that are discussed within each chapter to thousands of parents around the country. My motivation to finally write this book was spurned by a conversation between my daughter and myself after reading an answer to a college application essay that she wrote. Aly’s essay discussed what self-love has created in her life. Having been raised with many of the strategies that are discussed in this book, self-love is something that she has never questioned - it’s as natural as breathing to her. After she said to me, “Mom, I know I love myself but how did you teach me this?”, I felt that this was the opportunity to share with her not only my journey as a parent but also the ways that helped remind her of her birthright of love.

Paperback. Zustand: Good. Like most parents, we tell our children that we love them and we believe that speaking those words will translate into our children to continue loving themselves. We believe that if something is said over and over again it will gain validity and that our children would then internalize that I love you and from that create a healthy self-love.Self-love is not the same as being self-centered, egotistical, or narcissistic. What would it look like to have a generation of children that practiced self-love? They would be caring and loving towards others as well as themselves. They would appreciate their talents and be accepting of who they are. By being accepting and compassionate towards themselves, they can in turn be the same towards their friends, classmates, siblings, and parents. Their self-worth and high self-esteem becomes a by product of their self-love. Artikel-Nr. 00107658156
