Winner, Sexuality, 6th Annual Beverly Hills Book Awards. Revised 2nd edition.
Are you in a sexless marriage or relationship with someone who may be asexual? Praised by leading sexuality experts, this self-help memoir from the sexual partner's perspective is a first.
Asexuality remains the "invisible orientation," largely unknown & misunderstood. Asexual people experience little or no sexual attraction, and the majority do not desire sex.
Also in the shadows are many sexually motivated partners of asexuals in sexless marriages. Sometimes both partners are unaware of their differences until a sexless relationship creates frustration and confusion. And it can happen with couples of any sex and gender combination.
For both people to be happy, something needs to shift.
Blending elements of Evan Ocean's intimate story with his own, Dave Wheitner shares expertise and perspective from counseling and psychology degrees, sexuality and intimacy training, and firsthand experiences similar to Evan's. The book cites 120+ sources, including works by asexual authors.
Whether you're a sexually motivated partner or relationship professional, the candid story, insights, tools, and tips will resonate with you.
This second edition incorporates community feedback on the first edition.

Evan Ocean granted his friend Dave permission to publish many aspects of his personal story. He asked to be credited anonymously under a pen name, without further biographical details. Dave Wheitner authored most of the book. One of his partners also realized she was asexual, and his story has many overlaps with Evan’s. Dave blended details of their stories into a single narrative, changed certain elements to honor others’ privacy wishes, and added the various levels of interpretation and self-help information. Dave has long been intrigued by sexuality and human behavior. As a teenager, he enjoyed browsing sexuality research books at the public library—and not just for the pictures. Raised in a blue-collar neighborhood by a financially limited but loving family, Dave earned a B.A. in Psychology from Yale (Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society), an M.A. in Community Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society), an M.S. in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon (Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society), and life coaching certification. He has participated in various workshops and trainings on awareness, authenticity, sensuality, sexuality, personal growth, and leadership. He has created and facilitated touch-positive events. Dave is an award-winning author of several books. The Snuggle Party Guidebook, a guide to obtaining more physical affection, also touches upon many aspects of sexuality. Formerly vegan but still mostly plant-based, he pairs sensual desserts with romantic activities for couples in The Vegan Chocolate Seduction Cookbook. His sensual poetry appears in Ecosexuality: When Nature Inspires the Arts of Love. He has also written music with sexuality-inspired themes.
