The child prince Ronin has been having nightmares and blackouts for over a year now and is once again lost somewhere in the land of Sequoia. As the kingdom of Foralgel looks for him, Ronin awakes to find himself in some dark underground room, without any memory of who he is. With little choice other than to sit there, Ronin gets up and searches for a way out of the temple. On his way out he is confronted by a strange woman who gives him a note to give to the Queen of Foralgel and after pointing out the compound of Foralgel on the horizon, disappears. Escape from Innocence is the first book in the new fantasy series, The Legends of Bearlandia by artist/author Julio Romano. Originally a fine art project based on reclaimed memories the books explore the world of Sequoia, a world torn apart by a Great War over 2700 years ago, that now remains suspended in time. Escape from Innocence follows the story of the young boy (age 10) as he awakes in a room with out any memory of who he is and follows him through a journey of self re-discovery and acceptance as he learns his place in the world and in the history of Sequoia. This process of re-discovery is only made more difficult by nightmares and blackouts that keep his memory and gift of magic at bay. With a thousand years of winter threatening to take over the land the young boy must make a decision to help a mysterious woman that keeps disappearing on him. All this culminates at the end of the story when the boy must face the decision to escape from his home in a fight with his own mother the Queen and her own agenda, already in place, in order to help the mysterious woman and her 2700 year old quest.

Currently living in Phoenix, AZ, he continues to play and create in his studio, producing art works based on the world around him and the reality he chooses to create to live in. Train as a traditional artist and photographer Julio Romano has been showing his work in galleries and museums since 1992. The Legends of Bearlandia series started as a fine art project based on reclaimed memories and originally included sculptures, sketches and installations. As Julio found the explanations for each of his pieces getting longer and longer he finally sat down and started writing out short stories set in the world for each piece. Soon even the smaller stories became complex and needed further explanations. Julio then started planning out and linking the art works and small stories as a series of novels. The Legends of Bearlandia series is an expression of his life and worlds and continues to push his memories and experiences through boundaries that even he did not know they might take. Julio is very happy to see the first of his books, Escape from Innocence, released and has already begun working on the second book in the series: Blood Soaked Keys.
