About this Book In Kayla’s First Chickens - Book Three, Kayla’s hens have baby chicks. As the chicks grow large, Kayla has no room for them. When Kayla learns that the new chickens must be butchered, she works to understand that it is normal to eat chickens. As a Level 1 Reader, Kayla’s First Chickens - Book Three uses simple words, offers picture clues, and introduces a limited number of new vocabulary terms. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Jomo W. Mutegi, Ph.D. is a professor of science education. He authors a broad range of children's books including leveled readers, picture books, and young adult novels. As a professor of science education, Dr. Mutegi’s area of expertise is the participation of African people in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). He has published numerous manuscripts summarizing his research findings and theoretical arguments. Dr. Mutegi earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry and Biology from Gannon University; and a Doctorate in Science Education from Florida State University. He has taught thousands of prospective and practicing teachers, as well as K-12 students. He has also helped to guide the research careers of several very accomplished STEM education researchers.
