On Veteran's Day, November 11, 2003, Carl Holden Decided to Leave this world. To those who loved him, Carl Holden was affectionately known as Pa. He taught us many life lessons while he was with us--both through words and how he lived. He certainly had his own lessons to draw from--WWII POW, son, engineer, deacon, husband and loving father. Pa resides on Orion's shoulder now, happy to see how we are still learning from what he taught us. Some of those lessons were hard to learn, especially in the context of his death. It wasn't until years later in his life that we came to grips with some of the pain of his early lessons with the value of learning them. It wasn't until those later years that the chip on my shoulder was disolved into a warm glow in my heart.
