Karen Steede Terry has been self-employed as an independent software instructor and consultant since 1996. Karen holds teaching certifications from four different GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS (Global Positioning Systems) manufacturers. Previously, she was employed by ESRI®, Inc., and Trimble® Navigation, LTD., the market leading GIS and GPS companies, respectively. She is a Certified Trimble GPS Trainer, as well as an ESRI Authorized GIS Instructor, and was the first woman to obtain both certifications. She also holds certifications from Leica Geosystems, Inc., and MapInfo Corporation, and is the only person certified by all four manufacturers simultaneously. Karen is a graduate of Texas A&M University. A technical writer, she is published regularly in national trade magazines. Her first book, Integrating GIS and the Global Positioning System, was published in 2000 by the ESRI Press. A member of the National Speakers Association (NSA), Karen is a regular speaker at GIS conferences.
