Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Author Joe E. Holoubek, a founder of LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, La., is one of 50 members of the Catholic Academy of Sciences USA. His extensive list of published works includes articles on cardiology, medical ethics and health care of the clergy.Holoubek, a Nebraska native, graduated from University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He spent five decades in Louisiana as an internal medicine physician and consulting cardiologist. He served as president of the National Federation of Catholic Physicians Guilds, the Louisiana Heart Society and Tri-State Medical Society. He and his wife, Dr. Alice Baker Holoubek, undertook decades of study of the physical aspects of death by crucifixion. They presented more than 300 one-hour meditations at churches and meetings in the South, throughout the nation and in the Holy Land. Dr. Joe and Dr. Alice were appointed by the pope to the Order of St. Gregory the Great for outstanding church and community work. They achieved the highest level of honor in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, dedicated to keeping open the Christian places in the Holy Land.Dr. Joe retired from practice in 1990. He began writing Letters to Luke four years later and published it privately in 2004.
