Christopher Twigg was born in 1958 and studied at Pembroke College, Cambridge (English Literature) and the Slade School of Art (Painting). He taught English in Comprehensive schools in south and west London and then moved to Granada, Andalusia, where he learned Spanish and began to draw and paint. He noticed a change in his writing in 1991 and published his first collection Adventures in the West in 1993. This was followed by In the Choir in 1997 (Alces Press) which was paperback of the week in the Guardian. He is a founder member of the alternative country group Chicken of the Woods and now lives in Wales.

Christopher Twigg has read his poems on BBC Radio Three (Poetry 2000) and been the subject of two short films 'To my Feet' and 'The Conception' made for Channel Four Television. His work appears in the Hearing Eye and ORAL anthologies and has been published in many magazines including APE, FASH’N RIOT and CANNON FODDER. He has performed in London at the Royal Festival Hall, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, the Jazz Cafe, the Borderline, Battersea Arts Centre, in Art Schools, pubs, clubs and theatres, but also in Paris, West Cork in Capel-y-ffin, and most recently at the Elliott Bay Book Company in Seattle, WA.
