A Stockbridge Homecoming: The True Story of a Family's Journey - Hardcover

Inhaltsangabe

Here is the true story of a young missionary and his family that uniquely captures the meaning of Christmas, yet reaches beyond seasonal boundaries. Set in the heart of Central China, Hong Kong, and Stockbridge, Massachusetts, this remarkable tale recounts the time from 1946, when the author's family arrived in Wuchang, China, to Christmas of 1949 when they ultimately made it back to Stockbridge and were welcomed there with a gift beyond measure. In between, it covers the trials of the mother and young daughters as refugees in Hong Kong, and the father's unrelenting commitment to the Chinese people. The Communist occupation of Wuchang put his work and life in jeopardy, resulting in an incredible 1,000-mile journey to the safety of Hong Kong, where the family was reunited for their return to the United States. This gripping narrative of separation, loss, and reunion plays out against the political and military upheaval of the Communist Revolution. Throughout, it is the triumph of family, of community, and of faith--a story that speaks to the heart and lifts the spirit. 5 1/2 X 8.
