Kenny Shoemaker was born September 7, 1929, and died March 22, 2001. He lived his entire life in the Albany, NY, area and drove stock cars from 1949 to 1978. Known as "The Shoe" he thrilled generations of fans with his take no prisioners driving style. He was a hired gun paid to go out and shoot down the winner and if he didn't he got fired. Throughout his career he raced at tracks within driving distance of his home because by day he drove 18-wheelers to support his family.
