The story of Jesus' last days before the crucifixion have been recounted again and again by various interpreters in the Christian fiction genre. Therefore, any writer attempting yet another go at this material needs to say something special to stand out. Unfortunately, Bonder (Waking Down: Beyond Hypermasculine Dharmas, Mt. Tam Awakenings, 1998) brings nothing new to the story. It is the night of the Last Supper and, while Jesus goes off by himself, his Apostles spend the evening bickering and attempting to discover who among them will bring Jesus' prophecies of their future to reality. The absence of Judas leads them to believe he is Jesus' betrayer, but this does not stop them from arguing. As the night wears on, readers learn little about these men except that they must have been fairly unpleasant to be around. Not recommended.
