One of four children raised in rural Wisconsin, Sandy considers herself fortunate for having had an innocent childhood. She recalls tending orphaned lambs and suckling calves; playing work-up in the cow pasture with cousins; and heading down an icy hill, third in a seven-sled train. Sandy has dedicated her adult life to teaching special education. Having earned Master and Specialist in Education degrees, her teaching career spans 20 years, 5 states, and all grades K-12. She holds her students in high regard and believes they are her inspiration. Remembering her own struggles in school motivates her. Sandy met Pete in 1989, they married in 1991, and published "Bongo is a Happy Dog" in 1997. Their second book, "Bongo Has Many Friends" was published in 2001. Presently Sandy is a counselor in an elementary school. Sandy, Pete and Bongo have presented at literature conferences, writers' workshops, and a state-wide promotional tour for literacy.
