Tribe of Mount Kenya:
The Kikuyu :[Kih-koo-yoo] are a tribe from Mount Kenya. They say that in the beginning, the Creator made the mountain as a sign of his wonders and as a resting place for himself. They call it 'Kere Nyaga':[Kair-ree Nee-yah-gah] or the 'Mountain of God' (Kereny#). Then a famous Seer named 'Cege Wa Kibiru':[Say-gay-wah-kih-beer-roo] predicted the coming of strangers who would look like white frogs, their dress like the wings of butterflies, and they would carry sticks that spit fire. He saw a huge Iron Snake (railroad) that belched smoke as it traveled across the land between the oceans. And his visions came to pass, for the Europeans eventually arrived and slurred the name 'Kilinya':[Kee-leen-yah] into 'Kenya'. Kilinya was the name given to the Mountain of God by the neighboring 'Kamba' :[Kahm-bah] Tribe whom lived at the base of the mountain.
