Dr. Ron Klinger has dedicated much of the past decade researching fathering issues. He regularly conducts workshops where participants learn to understand the father's role within the family. A nationally respected pioneer in this area, Dr. Klinger is the author of The Common Sense No-Frills, Plain-English Guide To Being A Successful Dad. He has made fathering presentations for numerous organizations including the Texas Attorney General's office, Roundrock Independent School District, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, National Fatherhood Initiative, and the Indiana Governor's Conference on Fatherhood.
Father of a teenage son, Dr. Klinger earned his doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin and is a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas. He is the founding President of the Center for Successful Fathering.
Through the Center for Successful Fathering, Dr. Klinger has created curriculum offered to schools, professionals, and directly to fathers. It is also the basis for continuing education seminars taught to mental health professionals. "Accepting the Challenges of Fatherhood" is a six-part program aimed at the fathers (or potential fathers) of children from birth through elementary school ages.
A book for fathers (and mothers) of children from birth through about eleven years of age who yearn to become committed and loving dads. The Common Sense No-Frills, Plain-English Guide To Being A Successful Dad is the most positive book on fatherhood in years. It is based on the lessons taught by ordinary, hard-working men who are also active fathers. With the basic principle that children need the balance of a mother and a father, Dr. Ron Klinger leads you through the mistaken beliefs, myths, misconceptions, and obstacles that disconnect men from their children. In a straightforward approach you learn the destructive effects of fatherless children and the unique and irreplaceable contributions of devoted dads.
If you have grown weary of hearing that today's dads are no longer needed; if you are confused about what dads are supposed to do; if you have come to believe that active, involved fathers are a thing of the past, you are not alone. Fact is that many of today's fathers and mothers did not have involved dads and don't understand dad's role, or the contributions that dads give their children. Based on hundreds of interviews with successful dads, this book contains the answers you need.
The Common Sense No-Frills, Plain-English Guide To Being A Successful Dad is unique. It links fatherhood to the needs of our children to be prepared for life outside the comfort and safety of the family. It links fatherhood to essential and complementary contributions of mothers. It links fatherhood to specific types of problems experienced by children without fathers. It links fatherhood skill building to a self-assessment tool which can either verify a father's contributions or point dads in the direction of positive change.
Whether you are married, divorced, or teenage father, The Common Sense No-Frills, Plain-English Guide To Being A Successful Dad will reaffirm what you have felt all along...Children need to know and be known by their father.
