To be a LEADER: Leadership Beyond Management examines the two notions leadership and management, their relationship and their value. If an organization is unable to make a distinction between these two skill sets, the organization is doomed to be without one, most likely leadership.
Lewan presents readers with a strong challenge to go beyond our traditional training, education, and management orientation and step up to leadership, a separate and critical skill set and commitment. Most want to be led not merely to be managed. Yet, unless we know the difference, it is more likely that followers will only do as they are told and will follow no one.
