Inhaltsangabe

The Construction Process in Architecture is the sequel to 'Visions of Architecture' published in New York by Bloomsbury Publishers in 2011. The book explores the Construction Process which comprises the Seven Orders of Construction, and which formed the basis of lectures given by the author to Prince Charles’ Architectural Foundation. The book contains a series of remarkable facts which caused the development of buildings based on the Seven Orders of Construction. Typically, the Empire State Building owes its design to Aztec-Mayan influences as much as to the evolution of the iron frame used in building the St. Pancras Hotel in London, the designs of which were based on fantasy, fairies and the Victorian fear of death! A well researched book, with an extensive index and over a hundred drawings by the author of unusual buildings, little known facts about which are explored in a fascinating way making this book highly enjoyable and informative.
