Come un codice burocratico, definisce ma non descrive. Tutte le immagini incluse nei due volumi risalgono alla seconda guerra mondiale e nessuna di esse è stata scattata da fotografi professionisti. In fondo ai due volumi le immagini sono state riprodotte nelle loro dimensioni reali, fronte e retro. Nelle sezioni principali, le stesse immagini sono state ingrandite permettendo di viaggiare al loro interno. Il volume n. 1 dà uno sguardo fugace alla natura temporale della cultura materiale che fiancheggia lo svolgimento del conflitto. Il volume n. 2 riflette sul costo umano della guerra. 82 è come nessun altro racconto, ed è così stratificato che nessuna analisi potrà ritenersi esaustiva".
