"Jim Wynne was a river keeper on the River Wharfe in the Yorkshire Dales between Addingham and Bolton Abbey for many years until his death in 1974. He was an expert angler and fly-tyer who, above all, dressed flies that would catch fish. Part One of this book introduces Jim Wynn and documents his unique collection of 50 wet fly and 53 dry fly dressings, recorded in two notebooks which came to light in 1992. Some of the flies are modifications of traditional North Country patterns, others were his own creations. Almost all show the innovative introduction of coloured tinsels and man-made fibres. Extensive notes comment on the use and origins of each pattern. Part Two discusses the North Country Style of fly fishing, surveys notable fly-fishermen on the River Wharfe and explores Wharfedale's landscape and geology." Appendices cover, mayflies, dry fly calendar, wet fly calendar, grayling flies, River Wharfe day ticket fishing. Originally published by the present editor's father, Tom Cross, in 1992. .
