Born in Liverpool in 1965, Chris Wilson is an Officer within the UK Fire & Rescue Service. He has served since 1993 prior to which he had a successful career as a Chef, then also as a Professional Karate Instructor, Weight-Lifting Instructor and Life Coach with his own gym NRG Unlimited.
As a Fire Officer, he spent 5 years in the Training Department as a Development Officer, Instructor and Assessor-Verifier, devising and introducing training and development programmes. He has authored several articles on Fire Service Training and related subjects.
Chris has been a student of Japanese Martial Arts since the age of 13 and has been a teacher of Karate since 1989. He has published many articles and Karate Association documents from Child Protection to Sports Instruction and History. He currently holds a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate and ranks in three other disciplines. He has competed in Karate at Regional, National and International level representing Liverpool, Oxfordshire, England and Great Britain.
Chris has studied Flamenco since 1996 and has trained under many teachers in Spain and the UK. He works on many aspects of Flamenco alongside Carolina Wood, a great friend and co-contributor to Flamenco Essentials, pictured here with international Flamenco legend La Tati.
In 2008 he took part in the Taste of Spain Guinness World Record for dancing Sevillanas in London, setting the record with 455 other dancers. In his spare time when not studying or practising Flamenco, he teaches karate and referees at Regional and National Level.
Chris has been a staunch supporter, official and fundraising volunteer for the Fire Fighters Charity for over 15 years and a percentage of the profits from Flamenco Essentials will go to the Charity.
