I was looking for a suitable story book for a niece of mine, when I was given one to read by Eddie Clarke. I well remembered this gentleman relating numerous historic stories with great spontaneity, passion and sincerity to a coach full of people, all of whom were absolutely enthralled. I felt sure his children's book Grandad's Tales; would bear these same qualities and I was not disappointed because they were all there. The stories have a good beginning, plenty of adventure, fun and humour, even a little moral and a happy ending; just as if Grandad was speaking to them right from his heart. No child would suffer nightmares if these stories were read to them at night and any child could be left to read the book without fear of finding anything unsuitable for children to read. Not everyone has a Grandad to read these stories and so I suggest they adopt Eddie Clarke as Grandad and read Grandad's Tales. --Heather J. Ivermee, Salisbury, Wiltshire
