I thought this book was fantastic. I couldn't put the book down. It got me gripped from the first few paragraphs. I loved the way the author described the garden, and the characters. I thought it was inventive and creative. I think it could have done with a little more excitement, but overall I thought it was fabulous. I really didn't want this book to end, and I hope that the author writes lots more books. I would recommend this book to anybody, and anybody that reads this book, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.Amy Jones Aged 12 (Strays Bookshop, Newark)Dear Magnolia,We have laughed wept and wondered at your story. It is exciting, inspiring and wise. Also extremely well written. We have been reading it out loud to each other and think it would work extremely well as an audio book or as TV for kids. Chrissy wants Ellis to know that she has already finished it on her own and wept buckets and thinks it is one of the best kids books she has ever read. Honestly!!!The Wiburs Family, Buckfastleigh, DevonDear Magnolia,Thank you so much for letting Ellis tell your story for you. I got my copy yesterday and have read it through and really enjoyed it. I do hope that lots more people read your story and learn a good social lesson from it too. I shall do my utmost to pass the word onL. Reseña del editor:
Peaceborough has a unique treasure, the wonderful garden of St. Mungo’s School. Started over forty years before by teacher Percival Sweet, the garden has been tended ever since by generations of loyal pupils. Now, though, it is threatened with destruction, destined to become a car park for the local shopping mall. If it belonged to the school all would be well, but it doesn’t, it belongs instead to Horace Blackwell, owner of the neighbouring Shoe Polish Factory who intends to sell the land for a deliciously huge pile of cash. And no one seems to care, except the Garden Prefects. Led by tenacious Magnolia Roundtree they uncover a sinister plot and must fight for what is right, never giving up, not even when threatened by their fearsome head teacher Prissy Skillet. Can Magnolia and her friends do something extraordinary that will capture the attention of an indifferent world and save the day? The Last Garden is a funny, exciting and topical story pitting greed against green and men against mungos. For ages 9 and over
