Joan Anderson, of Nashville, Tennessee, a former day-care center director and Facilitator of the Single Mother's Group at Vanderbilt University, draws upon her own experience and that of other single mothersto provide practical tips for surviving and succeeding as a single mom.
This is a sensible, well-organized, and well-written guide through the minefield of managing life as a single mother. The author was a facilitator for the Vanderbilt University Single Mother's Group and uses the real-life problems and solutions that have come out of it as examples. Topics as diverse as plumbing, raising psychologically as well as physically healthy children, and nutrition, are covered in brief narratives. Valuable more for inspiration and encouragement than for in-depth instruction, this is an affordable addition to life skills sections of public libraries. Single moms will appreciate it. Recommended.
