Hardlines offers a fascinating look into how perceptive children really are about their world. Hardlines features 67 social commentary linocut prints created by children. The children's art is the product of a national artist-in-residence program, Artists & Communities: America Creates for the Millenium. This book contains linocut prints from participants ages ten through adult who worked with artist Richard Mock of New York City during a summer residency at the Plains Art Museum in Fargo, North Dakota. The themes presented in the artwork represent social commentary about present-day issues, personal points of view, experiences or memories. They are universal issues that affect all our communities as well as our world. Hardlines is also a great educational tool for teachers, printmakers, parents and humanity.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Richard Mock is a painter, sculptor and printmaker as well as a nationally and internationally syndicated political cartoonist. His work appears in 55 newspapers through the Cartoonist and Writers Syndicate in New York City. From 1978 to 1996, Mock's work appeared on the editorial pages of the New York Times. His artwork hangs in the Australia National Art Museum in Canberra, Australia; The Brooklyn Museum; Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, and the New York Public Library; The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston; The National Museum of American Art in Washington DC; The Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England; among others. Consistently, his art explores pressing social, political and economic issues that profoundly affect our planet.
