Larry Hoffman attended California State University Northridge where he received a liberal arts degree. While attending college, Larry worked at an educational supply store in Northridge, California, where he discovered his interest in retail and educational products. After he completed his degree, Larry purchased the educational supply store from his previous boss and owner, over 20 years ago. In the process of operating the store, he realized that many of the math products were drill and kill and boring which had been one of the reasons that he hadn't liked math as a student. Determined to make math interesting, Larry set out to design math products that would engage students, knowing that if they could have fun at the same time the students would deepen their understanding of math and come to enjoy it.
