Others might have given in. Why did these remain steadfast? An alarming interrogation by Colombia's version of the FBI. A dangerous mishap at a construction site. A frightening theft at his home in Bucaramanga. What kept Marion Corley on the mission field for 22 years when others might have returned to Stateside comforts? A commitment to being an "unmoveable" witness, "always abounding in the work of the Lord" (1 Cor. 15:58), formed Marion's marching orders as he and his wife, Evelyn, served in Colombia and kept the couple from succumbing to innumerable challenges. Buoyed by special new Christians such as Dona Maria, a poor, uneducated woman who enriched their lives immeasurably, and other Colombian friends who added to their experiences, the Corleys poured their lives into the people God sent them to serve. Marion Corley, the author, was appointed a Southern Baptist career missionary in 1962 and served in Colombia, South America, for 22 years. Before this, he was a pastor in his native state, Alabama, for 7 1/2 years. He and is wife, Evelyn, now live in Dallas, Texas.
