WHAT A YEAR IT WAS! 1965 is a nostalgic, informative, entertaining, sometimes tongue-in-cheek look back at the headline news and human interest events of that year. Also known as the Swinging Sixties, the decade of the 1960's was defined by the British Invasion, War in Vietnam, the civil rights movement spearheaded by Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders, and three days of peace and music at the Woodstock Festival. The Cold War is never hotter than during the thirteen days of the Cuban Missile Crisis. John F. Kennedy becomes the 35th President of the United States, and his 1963 assassination shocks the world. In 1964, The Beatles land at JFK Airport in New York City and perform later on The Ed Sullivan Show, with over 73 million people watching at home. President Lyndon B. Johnson signs the National Voting Rights Act, ending discriminatory voting practices. A decade in space, President Kennedy makes a pledge to put a man on the moon, and NASA's efforts throughout the sixties culminate with Apollo 11's mission, which makes Neil Armstrong the first man to set foot on the moon. Through and through, the sixties was a decade full of people, places, and events that changed the course of human history forever. What about you? Where were you in 1965? Was that the year you were born or got married, graduated high school or college or started your own business? Whatever personal meaning that year holds for you, WHAT A YEAR IT WAS! 1965 will bring a wistful smile to your face as you relive that very special time.
