Rezensionen

The power of attorney is a device by which one person (the principal) gives another person legal authority to act on his or her behalf. A conventional power of attorney becomes invalid when the principal is incapacitated, while a ``durable'' power of attorney (the focus of this book) either continues into or takes effect upon the principal's incapacity. Clifford ably explores the issues to consider in using this planning tool and provides numerous sample forms to aid the reader. Particular attention is paid to the law of California (librarians should note that a durable power of attorney is invalid in Illinois, Louisiana, Wyoming, and Washington, D.C.). An appendix contains tear-out forms, but these are mostly duplicates of the sample forms in the text. Recommended for most public libraries. Jack Ray, Loyola/Notre Dame Lib., Baltimore
