It is hoped this guide will materially contribute to the multiple rewards of enjoyment and knowledge of the Cascade Range in Washington. This volume covers the Cascades from the Columbia River to the demarcation along the Skykomish River, Stevens Pass, and the Wenatchee River; an Oregon climb, Stein's Pillar, is included. This copy is divided into arbitrary sections generally following principle drainage areas. The objective of the guide is to define established routes though some are recognized on a somewhat arbitrary basis. Those peaks and routes that are traditionally popular, regardless of location, and those that are readily accessible on a weekend are logically emphasized. In general, an equitable rather that a selective coverage is intended.
