Faced with the possibility of losing their cultural heritage, the Kiowa Tribal Council organized the Kiowa Historical and research society in 1974. From then until the present, this group has worked to record and translate the oral history of the tribal elders. preserving the unique Kiowa heritage for future generations. Kiowa families supplied the society with calendars, artifacts, photographs, paintings and drawing by Indian artist as well as recordings of Kiowa dances and songs.
