From the Publisher:

"Parents of premature babies need to know how important they are to their tiny newborns," Torgus said. "Despite the need for specialized care, these babies still need their mothers to be nearby as much as possible, and they need her milk to grow and thrive," said LLLI Director of Publications Judy Torgus.

From the Author:

"There are exciting new developments in the area of neonatal care," said Gotsch. "There are many people in the field of neonatal care working hard to make it possible for premature babies to receive their mother's milk and eventually nurse at the mother's breast. It's exciting to be able to relay this information to the mothers who need it most. There's no question that human milk is the best nutrition for premature babies."

Gotsch has written and edited numerous books, articles and pamphlets on breastfeeding and parenting for LLLI. She is an accredited La Leche League Leader who works from home. Gwen and journalist/husband Lon Grahnke have three children.

Her first book Breastfeeding Pure & Simple, published by LLLI in 1993, is a straightforward guide to lead a mother from the first awkward moments of thinking about breastfeeding to determining when and how to wean.
