Celebrate Thanksgiving - Softcover

Strive and Succeed or The Progress of Walter Conrad

Hardcover. 8vo. Pale grey cloth with green spine lettering, dust jacket. 215pp. Fine/very good. Mild binding wear only. Superbly tight and sharp first of this edition, a centennial reprint of an early typical rags-to-riches Alger tale, both serialized in magazine and published in book form in 1872. Front jacket panel screams "It's a real / HORATIO ALGER / story!" This primo copy bears a fine archival decorative-edged bookplate on front flyleaf boldly signed and inscribed "with all best / wishes / from / Ralph D. Gardner" in blue fineline. Gardner (1923-2005) was a noted New York journalist, radio talk show host and advertising company founder best remembered for a popular 1964 biography and bibliography of Alger's works. A handsome, unusually bright copy of this unusual edition. This obscure publisher published three Alger titles only in this uniform format. Artikel-Nr. 46237
