Wraps. Zustand: Very good. Darren Glenn, Don Greer (Color) and David Gebhardt (illustrator). Presumed First Edition, First printing. 49, [1] pages plus covers. Illustrations (some with color). This item has slight wear and soiling. This is Warships Number 23. Mr. Stern, a retired software engineer and longtime naval history writer, is the author of nine books copublished by the Naval Institute Press, most recently The Battleship Holiday: The Naval Treaties and Capital Ship Design (2017). Robert C. Stern has been writing naval history for more than thirty years, during which time he has published major works, numerous magazine articles, and pictorial monographs. The Germans designed and built three classes of capital ships before and during World War Two. They were: Deuschland Class, Scharnhorst Class and Bismarck Class. All the effort that went into the design and all the resources that went into the construction of these ships were effectively rendered futile by the final emergence of airpower as the primary instrument of naval force.
