Inhaltsangabe

The third in the delightful "Provincial Lady" series finds out pungently witty English lady travelling to the United States on a literary tour. She visits New York, Cleveland, Chicago and the World's Fair of 1932, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington and other cities—confiding to her diary her shrewd and barbed thoughts and queries. Here is no British What's-Wrong-with-America, but rather a delightful See-Yourselves-as-the-Others-See-You: a challenge to the American sense of humor.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

E. M. Delafield was the nom de plume of Edmée Elizabeth Monica de la Pasture Dashwood (1890-1943), who produced more than forty volumes of fiction, plays, and essays over twenty-six years in the 1920s and '30s. However, her Provincial Lady series, first published for the weekly magazine Time and Tide, has proven to be her most celebrated work.
