To read the Bible with understanding requires that we see both the "forest" and the "trees," the larger context and the small details. We will begin and conclude our study of Exodus by looking at the book as a whole. Once you have a broad grasp of its contents, you will be more able to comprehend its parts. The birth of a nation

In the book of Genesis, God began His strategy to restore mankind to intimacy with Him by focusing on a single family: the descendants of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob. Exodus, the next stage of the story, documents four fundamental transformations in this family:
